SECTION 01
Funding Breakdown by Stage
Across 23 named UAE-HQ rounds we verified for Q2, equity and strategic capital totaled roughly $535M. Series A dominates the stack — but that is almost entirely a CargoX effect. Strip the $250M autonomous-delivery round and Q2 looks like a strong fintech-and-AI Series A quarter with a Series B layer that exists but is not locally led.
Equity & strategic capital by stage ($M)
Debt excluded from chart: TruKKer up to $300M ADCB securitisation (May).
| Stage | Deals | Total Raised | Avg. Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Seed / Seed | 9 | $19.5M | $2.2M |
| Series A | 7 | $424M | $60.5M* |
| Series B+ | 2 | $68.4M | $34.2M |
| Undisclosed / Strategic | 3 | $23.2M | $7.7M |
| Debt | 1 | $300M | — |
*Series A average is distorted by CargoX. Ex-CargoX, the six remaining Series A rounds average about $29M — still elevated versus a typical MENA quarter, pulled up by Comfi ($65M) and CNTXT AI ($60M).
The Series B gap that framed the Q1 report narrowed but did not close. Two equity Series Bs landed: Fasset's $51M (Speedinvest alongside strategic investors; Dubai operating HQ and VARA licence, US corporate domicile — included with that footnote) and RemotePass's $17.4M (EBRD). Both were led from outside the region. Everything else that looks like “scale capital” is either mega Series A (CargoX) or bank debt (TruKKer). Local growth-equity funds are still not writing the checks that keep companies in the region past Series A.
SECTION 02
Top 10 Deals of Q2 2026
Ranked by disclosed equity or strategic amount. TruKKer's debt facility is noted in Section 01 but excluded from this league table so equity comparisons stay clean. 1001 (London + Dubai) and Fasset (Dubai operating HQ, US domicile) are dual-HQ and included with that footnote.
| # | Company | Amount | Round | Lead Investor |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | CargoX | $250M | Series A | BlueFive Capital |
| 02 | Comfi | $65M | Series A | Iliad Partners |
| 03 | CNTXT AI | $60M | Series A | AI71, BlueFive Capital |
| 04 | Fasset | $51M | Series B | Speedinvest, strategic investors |
| 05 | 1001 | $30M | Series A | Lux Capital |
| 06 | RemotePass | $17.4M | Series B | EBRD Venture Capital |
| 07 | CredibleX | $15M | Series A | Mubadala |
| 08 | CarniStore | $12.2M | Strategic | Emirates Growth Fund |
| 09 | Udora | $10M | Undisclosed | Undisclosed |
| 10 | Algebra AI | $7M | Seed | Infinity Constellation, BECO |
CargoX is the defining announcement of the quarter: $250M led by BlueFive, with former Talabat CEO Tomaso Rodriguez at the helm, aiming to commercialize driverless logistics across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Comfi's $65M pre-Series A (equity + credit structure) and CNTXT AI's $60M sovereign-AI Series A are the other two checks that rewrite the averages. New entrants to the DXBStart directory this quarter include CargoX, CNTXT AI, Algebra AI, Rentify, CarniStore, Udora, Zuvees, AXON, and 1001.
SECTION 03
Sector Analysis
Logistics & Autonomy
For one quarter, logistics flipped the usual fintech-led narrative. CargoX's $250M dwarfs every other equity deal. TruKKer's up-to-$300M ADCB receivables facility shows a parallel track: mature logistics platforms can raise bank-scale debt without another equity round. The UAE is no longer just a logistics market — it is trying to become a logistics technology exporter.
AI & Sovereign Infrastructure
CNTXT AI ($60M, co-led by AI71 and BlueFive), Algebra AI ($7M with BECO and Infinity Constellation), and 1001 ($30M Lux-led Series A) make Q2 the clearest AI-infrastructure quarter yet. CNTXT's Actualize acquisition earlier in June adds Arabic voice agents to a sovereign-AI stack. The UAE Agentic AI Framework for government (announced April) is procurement backdrop more than venture catalyst — no public startup raise explicitly tied to it landed in the window.
Fintech
Fintech still cleared meaningful capital: Comfi $65M, Fasset's $51M Series B for its stablecoin neobank, and CredibleX $15M (Mubadala-led, ADGM). Mal's $230M January seed — the Q2 storyline that Islamic fintech got reset — did not produce a visible consumer launch or incumbent bank response inside the quarter. That thesis remains open heading into Q3.
PropTech
After Stake's $31M Series B in Q1, Q2 proptech was quieter and earlier: estaie (undisclosed pre-seed) and Rentify ($2M seed for AI rental revenue). Tokenization did not produce a second licensed peer in the named set. The category graduated last quarter; this one tested depth, not another graduation.
Food & Commerce
CarniStore took AED 45M (~$12.2M) from Emirates Growth Fund — growth equity, not classic venture. Peekabox raised $1.5M seed against food waste. Regional live-commerce (Siin) raised outside UAE HQ and is excluded from totals; Trofee did not announce a response round in the window.
SECTION 04
Government Programs & Their Impact
Q2 was quieter on splashy onboarding numbers than Q1's Dubai Founders HQ surge, and louder on capital formation tied to sovereign-adjacent investors.
| Program / Actor | Q2 Highlight | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Mubadala / AI71 | CredibleX lead; CNTXT co-lead | Sovereign capital into fintech + AI infra |
| BlueFive Capital | CargoX + CNTXT leads | Two largest equity checks of the quarter |
| Emirates Growth Fund | CarniStore AED 45M | National-champion growth equity, not seed VC |
| DIFC | AI-native financial center push | Positioning for ML/AI fintech domicile |
| Hub71 | eVoost AI (Qora71); ClimateTech Sept | Pre-seed still strongest on incentives |
The FoodTech Challenge prize awards (HyveGeo and peers) landed as January ADSW news, not Q2 venture — we keep them out of deal totals. Hub71's ClimateTech program starting September is the forward-looking climate signal; Q2 itself did not produce a breakout venture-backed climate round in the named set.
SECTION 05
The Talent Market
Across 189 published startups on DXBStart, 215 open roles were live at report time — more than double the 84 roles cited in the Q1 report. The board is broader now, not just a different counting window: AI and automation titles keep showing up next to classic engineering and revenue-ops seats.
Demand still clusters around builders who can ship product in regulated environments — fintech, logistics ops, and applied AI. For founders, that means hiring competition is less “can we find engineers at all” and more “can we clear visa + compensation for the ones who already have UAE options.” For operators, the open-roles surface on DXBStart remains the cleanest weekly read on where capital is converting into headcount.
SECTION 06
What to Watch in Q3 2026
CargoX commercial launch
The $250M only matters if driverless routes leave pilot mode in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Watch for RTA / Abu Dhabi Mobility milestones and named e-commerce anchor customers.
Mal product launch
Still the largest open bet from Q1. A consumer launch would validate the Islamic- fintech reset thesis; silence into late Q3 would reframe the $230M as a balance- sheet story rather than a category one.
A second local Series B
RemotePass and Fasset proved the stage exists; both were led from outside the region. An equity Series B led by a MENA-resident fund — or visible BECO Growth Fund I deployments — would be the first real crack in the capital-stack thesis.
GITEX / Expand North Star (December)
Not a Q3 event, but the pipeline that forms in Q3 decides who shows up with fresh rounds on the Expo City floor. Expect AI infra and logistics autonomy to crowd the narrative if CargoX and CNTXT keep shipping.
Methodology note: figures cover named UAE-HQ funding rounds verified into DXBStart's funding-rounds collection for 1 Apr – 30 Jun 2026. Broader UAE tallies (e.g. Wamda ~$591M / ~37 deals) include rounds we have not yet named. Siin and other non-UAE-HQ raises are excluded from totals.
