Space42 and Viasat Unveil Equatys 2,800-Satellite Venture at MWC
Space42 and Viasat detail Equatys, a shared satellite infrastructure platform with up to 2,800 satellites for global direct-to-device connectivity.
Space42 and Viasat shared progress on Equatys at MWC Barcelona. The venture aims to deploy up to 2,800 satellites across 60 orbital planes for multi-tenant shared infrastructure extending 3GPP-based connectivity to underserved populations.
Since September 2025, the cofounders have advanced engineering and secured commercial engagement with mobile operators including e& UAE and Indonesia's Telkomsat. The system will operate in harmonized L- and S-band spectrum.
Space42 holds an AED 18.7 billion UAE government contract. The Equatys venture remains subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.
