BluSmart Launches Pilot in Dubai with Audi E-Tron SUVs

Indian ride-hailing startup BluSmart has launched a pilot in Dubai with 100 Audi E-Tron SUVs and 130 drivers. The formal launch is set for early June. This move aims to challenge Careem, Uber, and Hala in Dubai. BluSmart's expansion follows significant growth and recent funding to boost its EV fleet.

Expansion Plans for Dubai and Abu Dhabi

BluSmart began planning its Dubai debut in early 2023. Initially, company representatives refuted rumors of the expansion, but co-founder Punit Goyal later confirmed plans to launch in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Abu Dhabi launch is scheduled for later this year. Founded in 2019, BluSmart currently operates in Gurugram, Delhi, and Bengaluru, backed by investors including BP Ventures and Mayfield India Fund.

Significant Funding and Growth Metrics

In January, BluSmart raised $25 million to enhance its charging infrastructure. The company’s annual run rate increased by 102% to $60 million, with a compound annual growth rate of 300% over the past three years. With a fleet of over 7,300 EVs, BluSmart aims to expand to 10,000 EVs by the end of 2024, marking a significant milestone in its growth.
